I have been counseling LASIK laser vision correction for 20 years at Greenberg Laser Eye Center. I enjoy sitting down with each patient individually and asking them why they want LASIK. Most patients say because they no longer want to wear glasses or contact lenses, but sometimes they share their personal stories with me. From the new mother who is afraid of a fire in the middle of the night and won’t be able to save her child to the police officer who had his glasses knocked off during an altercation. Sometimes it’s something as simple as waking up and being able to see the alarm clock in the morning or enjoying your favorite water sports in the summer. We start with a free consultation performing specific diagnostic testing. We will discuss hobbies you enjoy, sports you play, your occupational needs and your expectations. Dr. Dana Greenberg will meet with you during your consultation to examine your eyes, review your test results and answer any questions you may have for her. She will let you know if you are a good LASIK candidate and discuss your individualized treatment options. I will then review with you a typical LASIK surgery day and what to expect after LASIK. It is important to us that you feel comfortable through this experience and we have answered any questions or concerns you may have.
I discuss LASIK with people every day and it is not something I take lightly. I always keep in mind that these are your eyes. I have had patients schedule LASIK at the time of their consultation and I have had patients choose to schedule LASIK months sometimes years later.
